Senior VMware Engineer Job Description

Elluminates Software Corporation is seeking a full‑time Senior VMware Engineer to support the Department of State (DOS) as part of the Vanguard 2025 contract. The role involves designing, deploying, and managing VMware virtualization solutions and related storage technologies for the DO’s enterprise architecture.

• Execute duties as a member of the Infrastructure team.
• Design, integrate and deploy VMware IT solutions.
• Rack and stack new data‑center equipment.
• Collaborate with the networking team to configure virtual switching.
• Provide operational engineering support to enterprise‑level solutions using virtual server hosting and Dell storage technologies.
• Provision virtual machines and apply patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure.
• Update system and process documentation, user guides, diagrams and SOPs.

• Red Hat Linux and RHEL Satellite Server experience.
• Senior‑level knowledge of VMware and vSphere design, integration, and deployment.
• Knowledge or training on VMware ESX 7.0+ deployment, configuration, and maintenance.
• Windows engineering or administrator experience (Active Directory, GPOs, and Power Shell scripting).
• Experience leading system integration projects as a technical lead.
• Experience working with customers to capture and document requirements.

• VMware 8 experience.
• Experience configuring VMware NSX.
• LAN/WAN networking experience.
• Familiarity with DOS processes.

BS and 5+ years of related experience;
Masters and 3+ years; additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Full‑time.

Top Secret.

Springfield, VA. Position expected to transition to Washington, DC; candidates must be willing to relocate.

Normal business hours; 5 days on site.

Local.

$144,000 to $200,000. Salary determined by experience, location, and contractual requirements.
