Position OverviewThe Vice President of Business Development leads the strategic growth of our Kiewit’s Building construction portfolio along the East Coast, overseeing market strategy, client engagement, pursuit leadership, and long-term business development planning. He or She will develop and maintain trusting relationships with key client decision makers, stay abreast of client organizational changes, and understand the business development opportunities with existing and potential clients.
As such, the successful candidate will have responsibility for recommending target opportunities, developing proposal strategy and participating in proposal and estimate preparation, along with developing focused marketing approaches.
Kiewit’s Building Group specializes in constructing office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, science and technology facilities, manufacturing, retail and special‑use facilities, and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Its capabilities include general construction, construction management, design‑build, design‑assist and turn‑key project development. Kiewit also provides fast, accurate preconstruction project management services.

Responsibilities Market Strategy and Growth Leadership- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for the vertical construction market, aligned with corporate growth objectives.
- Identify emerging trends, funding mechanisms, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics impacting Building capital programs.
- Build multi‑year strategic plans for targeted federal, healthcare, higher education, sports & entertainment clients.
- Lead go‑to‑market strategies for CMAR, design build, EPC, and progressive delivery models.
- Maintain active engagement in construction forums, conferences, industry days, and professional associations to strengthen market presence.
- Facilitate meetings with clients, program managers, and key stakeholders.
- Maintain an updated pipeline of vertical construction opportunities and ensure visibility across executive leadership.
- Support shaping of procurement processes when applicable, including early positioning with owners and program managers.
- Lead development of win strategies for major pursuits, ensuring alignment with client needs and competitive positioning.
- Engage internal business units as strategic partners to leverage company wide capabilities.
- Build and manage partnerships with outside design firms, consultants, and general contractors to form competitive pursuit teams.
- Evaluate commercial terms, delivery models, and risk profiles; prepare Project Development Assessments for executive review.
- Prepare and present GO/NO GO recommendations for major pursuits.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with client executives, planning directors, program managers, and facility leaders.
- Participate in construction conferences and pursue speaking opportunities to elevate the company’s industry presence.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients and partners throughout the lifecycle of awarded projects to support long‑term relationship growth.
- Serve as the executive sponsor for key construction accounts, ensuring consistent engagement and client satisfaction.
