Job Title
This is a secondary law enforcement position.
Under the authority of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (PL 107-71, November 19, 2001), you will function as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and perform the duties and responsibilities assigned to Federal Air Marshals. The Executive Director, Operations Planning & Coordination reports directly to the Assistant Administrator for Federal Air Marshal Service and serves as a member of the LE Executive Staff, providing authoritative advice and recommendations related to the formulation, execution and evaluation of programs and planning activities.
High level duties include:
- Establishing and maintaining strategic direction, directing major law enforcement and/or security management activities, and administering related programs for a complex workforce having a unique law enforcement mission.
- Creating programs and processes to maximize law enforcement resources that are responsive to a dynamic risk-based management strategy, to deploy appropriate FAMS assets in accordance with Standing Operating Procedures.
- Establishing effective domestic and international liaison activities with Federal, State, local, and foreign officials, law enforcement agencies, and critical stakeholders to support multi-lateral law enforcement and counter terrorism efforts.
- Providing incident management processes and procedures throughout TSA to ensure the agency's ability to protect against, respond to, and recover from a variety of incidents.
- Developing and implementing TSA Emergency Preparedness programs and Continuity of Operations Plans, consistent with national guiding doctrine.
- Providing executive level leadership, directing the work of subordinate managers and performing a wide range of managerial duties including planning; communicating vision and objectives; assigning tasks and responsibilities; setting priorities; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; and taking, recommending or approving corrective/disciplinary actions as appropriate.
