Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician
This role focuses on the hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of electronic circuit boards, systems, and associated cabling and harnesses within an equipment manufacturing environment. The Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician applies a broad understanding of electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical concepts to build, wire, troubleshoot, and repair complex products used in advanced nondestructive inspection technologies.
Responsibilities- Perform a wide range of hands-on tasks related to the assembly, integration, and testing of electronic circuit boards, systems, and associated cabling and harnessing.
- Carry out electrical and mechanical assembly work in an equipment manufacturing environment, following established procedures and quality standards.
- Wire electrical boxes and electro-mechanical assemblies, ensuring accurate connections and adherence to wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic diagrams to assemble, connect, and route components and wiring correctly.
- Use hand tools and assembly equipment to build, crimp, fasten, and secure components and harnesses in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on assemblies and systems to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of electrical and mechanical problems associated with the current product line and supporting machinery.
- Conduct functional tests on assembled electronics, electro-mechanical products, and systems to verify performance and reliability.
- Follow documented assembly and test procedures to ensure consistency, safety, and product quality.
- Collaborate daily with operations team members, engineers, and technicians to support production goals and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assembly work, wiring changes, and troubleshooting activities as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance assembly processes, test methods, and product reliability.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent education in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic diagrams for assembly and wiring tasks.
- Experience performing basic electrical troubleshooting on circuit boards, wiring, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience performing basic mechanical troubleshooting on assemblies, components, and supporting machinery.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing a variety of electrical and mechanical problems in a production or equipment manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with hand tools commonly used for electrical and mechanical assembly, including crimping tools and related equipment.
- Ability to read and apply schematic diagrams and technical documentation to perform electronic and electro-mechanical assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in all assembly, wiring, and testing activities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and operations staff.
Skills & Qualifications
- Background in electro-mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, or electromechanical products.
- Experience with electrical box wiring or robotics mechanics.
- Familiarity with programming related to equipment setup or testing (as applicable to the role).
- Comfort working with ultrasonic and advanced inspection technologies in a manufacturing environment.
