Licensed Veterinary Technician

Overview

Potomac Valley Veterinary Surgical Specialist is seeking a Surgery Technician or Assistant to join our team. We are a surgical practice with 3 surgeons performing soft tissue, orthopedic and limited cardio surgeries. Procedures include but are not limited to TPLOs, TTAs, extracapsular repairs, fracture repairs, FHOs, routine/emergency abdominal laparotomies, mass removals, amputations, etc. Knowledge of these procedures is preferred, but we are willing to train a highly motivated individual.

Work hours are 10 hour shifts, 4 days a week.

• Must have experience in anesthesia monitoring
• Basic surgical instrument knowledge
• Experienced and knowledgeable in proper animal handling and restraint
• Knowledge of patient positioning for radiology
• Skilled in drug calculation and administration
• Excellent client communication skills
• Must have positive attitude and ability to thrive in a busy environment
• Ability to multi task
• Desire to learn and develop new skills

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

• Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
