Position Overview
Multimedia Forensics Research Scientist and Analyst
The Opportunity: You will work with a team of scientists and analysts to investigate and solve challenging multimedia forensic problems, improving national security. Your research and development expertise will be used to provide clients and stakeholders with insights into media analysis and to drive actionable results. You will perform forensic analysis and exploitation using scientific expertise and media analysis tools on digital media.
Your work will involve researching, developing, and prototyping novel techniques in areas such as biometric recognition, signal and image processing, computer vision, media geolocation, and media authentication. You will analyze scientific publications, translate academic concepts into real‑world solutions, and address specific client missions. You will also attend conferences and community meetings with multimedia forensics experts, presenting findings and recommendations to non‑technical audiences with an emphasis on mission impact.
• Perform forensic analysis and exploitation tasks on digital media.
• Research and develop novel multimedia forensic techniques, including algorithm and prototype development.
• Translate academic research into practical solutions for client missions.
• Attend professional conferences and present technical findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- 2+ years of experience implementing technical prototypes in Python or MATLAB.
- 2+ years of experience with multimedia analysis, signal and imaging processing, algorithm development, machine learning, or computer vision.
- 2+ years of experience presenting scientific findings and publishing peer‑reviewed papers.
- Secret clearance.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Digital Forensics, or Engineering.
- Experience with forensic imagery and media analysis.
- Experience with analytical image comparison, facial recognition, or facial identification.
- Experience integrating commercial or open‑source software tools for custom application development.
- Knowledge of photographic concepts and image science, including multimedia file specifications and formats.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and practical problem‑solving skills.
- TS/SCI clearance preferred.
- Doctorate degree preferred.
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Secret clearance is required.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $77,600.00 to $ (annualized USD). Compensation includes health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs, and dependent care.
