Alterations Specialist ResponsibilitiesAlterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise, delivering superior customer service.
- Welcome all customers with genuine enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person; communicate clearly and concisely and adapt style to suit customers.
- Use all systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five‑star customer experience.
- Maintain all service levels by being prepared, welcoming, and meeting the needs of every customer—including operational checklist tasks.
- Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time and contribute to the store’s achievement of five‑star customer service.
- Proactively address customer concerns with confidence; know when to escalates and partner with leadership.
- Communicate how alterations can perfect a dress and promote all alteration services and personalization options.
- Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting on gown fit and customization.
- Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.
- Maintain a high standard of dress in compliance with the Dress Code Policy.
- Greets and escorts all alteration customers to and from appointments.
- Inspect all garments altered, steamed, pressed, and cleaned to verify pristine condition before delivery.
- Respond promptly to all customer questions with product and service information.
- Build long‑term relationships to exceed customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Manage inventory of special orders and pickups, ensuring first‑quality standards for all merchandise.
- Ensure alteration pricing is at company standards.
- Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
- Resolve customer service issues effectively and in compliance with company guidelines.
- Support all cash wrap behaviors and process transactions with accuracy to celebrate every customer.
- Maintain the alterations room so it is consistently clean and well‑organized.
- Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools and objects; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and move throughout the store;
- Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds;
- Use of POS terminals, counting money, steaming garments, and operating computers;
- Need for good vision, depth perception, and use of peripheral vision for long periods of time.
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- 1‑2 years prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.
- Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal or special‑occasion production.
- Prior experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.
