Job Overview

As a Receiving Support Captain, you are an advocate for the customer and a role model for your colleagues. Your expertise in customer satisfaction, merchandising, and building brand loyalty drives results through promotional and omni‑selling initiatives. You report to a People Leader and play a key role in communicating expectations and priorities to the team. Advancement opportunities include Personal Stylist or Sales and Customer Experience Manager.

Full‑time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part‑time colleagues are scheduled 12‑24 hours per week. Hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.

What You Will Do
  • Depending on your station, you will fulfill customer orders, merchandise, process new products, or supervise the selling floor to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Lead colleagues in executing and completing assigned tasks.
  • Advocate for the customer, model best practices, and provide fast feedback on how to improve the customer experience.
  • Ensure high‑level customer service through problem‑solving and customer‑focused resolutions.
  • Enhance the in‑store customer experience by promoting the Macy’s mobile app.
  • Meet with People Leaders throughout the day to plan and monitor total store activities.
  • Provide continuous feedback to People Leaders that drives a positive customer experience and improves processes.
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures, including alarm system access and register settlement.
  • Lead and participate in maintaining best‑in‑class merchandise standards.
  • Educate colleagues on point‑of‑sale technology, radio frequency equipment, and applications that assist in selling and fulfillment.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
Who You Are
  • Flexible availability—including days, evenings, weekends and holidays—with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively with customers and providing clear direction to colleagues.
  • Self‑starter who adapts quickly to changing customer expectations and needs.
  • Resourceful and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • 1‑2 years of direct retail experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Essential

Physical Requirements You Will Perform
  • Lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. This role involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50 lbs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, reaching above eye level, and requires color vision.
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment, cash registers, and ability to process register transactions.
