WGL - Manager, Facility Security Operations
Security today requires more than monitoring systems and responding to incidents. It requires strong leadership, modern security practices, and the ability to protect people, facilities, and critical operations in an evolving risk environment. WGL is seeking a Manager, Facility Security Operations to lead and strengthen our physical security program across the utility business. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of our Physical Security Operations Center (SOC), contract security services, access control and badging programs, surveillance systems, and security response activities while helping shape the future of the program through modernization, process improvements, and operational excellence.
The position also leads a team of security professionals and vendors responsible for protecting personnel, assets, and critical infrastructure across multiple locations. - Lead the operation and performance of WGL's Physical Security Operations Center (SOC) and physical security programs
- Oversee contract security services, access control, badging processes, visitor management, and CCTV surveillance systems
- Ensure effective 24/7 response, escalation, management, and coordination during security incidents and emergencies
- Partner with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and emergency response agencies as needed to support investigations and security events
- Develop and enhance security operating procedures, playbooks, reporting, and performance metrics to drive consistency and accountability
- Lead security technology initiatives, including system upgrades, lifecycle planning, repairs, and capital improvement projects related to surveillance, access control, and alarm monitoring platforms
- Manage security vendors and service providers, ensuring strong performance and value delivery
- Support site security assessments, vulnerability reviews, audits, and compliance activities
- Mentor and develop security personnel while fostering a culture of professionalism, service, and continuous improvement
- Provide leadership support during significant security incidents in a 24/7 operating environment
- Progressive experience leading physical security, facilities security, security operations, protective services, or related programs
- Experience managing security operations centers, contract guard forces, access control programs, surveillance systems, or similar security functions
- Strong understanding of physical security technologies, investigations, incident management, and security operations
- Experience managing projects, budgets, vendors, and operational improvement initiatives
- Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional judgment, communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective during critical situations
- Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure, energy, government, defense, intelligence, or similarly regulated environments is considered an asset
- Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, PCI, or related credentials are preferred

The role offers a competitive salary range of $149,200 to $180,125 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
