Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
As a Pressure Technician I, you will support the safe and efficient operation of pressure‑regulating equipment at GSO (Gas System Operations) facilities. You will work alongside experienced technicians, gain hands‑on experience maintaining and operating essential gas system equipment, and help keep service reliable for customers.
Schedule and Work ConditionsMonday‑Friday, 6:30AM – 3:00PM (EST). Shift work may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Use of a personal vehicle may be required. A medical card is required for vehicles over 10,000lbs.
Responsibilities- Work under general direction of a higher graded employee or supervisor to support daily operations and maintenance.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of GSO facilities, including regulator station maintenance and troubleshooting, confined space work, transmission valve maintenance, and transmission service maintenance.
- Perform periodic inspections of stations to help ensure safety and reliability.
- Complete installation work for GSO facilities, including tubing, conduit, wiring, piping, and structural framework.
- Perform general station and site upkeep, such as yard/building maintenance, digging, manual labor, snow removal, painting, grass cutting, and trimming.
- Interpret and use company records and documentation, including map books and station drawings.
- Communicate clearly and effectively through company radio, verbal instructions, and team coordination.
- Stock, equip, and maintain company vehicles to ensure tools and materials are ready for the job.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- May be assigned to related business support and administrative activities such as backend meter processing, corrosion processing, leak/damager prevention processing, peer safety observations, vehicle clean‑out, and cross‑functional training activities.
- High School Diploma or GED. Formal technical training preferred.
- At least 18 months of hands‑on technical experience using tools in mechanical or pipe‑fitting work, equipment installation or maintenance, pumps, compressors, automotive or small engine repair, HVAC, plumbing, or regulator maintenance.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of math, physics, electronics, and gas systems (including the ability to smell odorized natural gas).
- Ability to read basic maps, drawings, and technical documents.
- Intermediate computer skills, including data entry, file management, creating/updating documents or spreadsheets, and sending emails with attachments.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass required assessments and entry‑level pressure operations testing.
- Willingness and ability to complete all required training, operator qualifications, safety training, and certifications.
- Ability to pass the Pressure Technician II exam within 18 months of hire.

Rate Classification:
Grade4A – $33.14 per hour, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
