The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in directing the passenger transit operations in Baltimore, MD, and is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations, safety, customer service and financial management.
Key Responsibilities- Direct daily operations management.
- Provide strategic planning and direction to the operations staff.
- Manage contract compliance.
- Share responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluation, and staffing for the facility’s management staff.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation or related field preferred.
- 5–7 years of supervisory or management level experience in the passenger transportation industry.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws.
- Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying transit operations.
- Thorough knowledge of transit staff and operational departments.
- Ability to work with state and local government.
- Ability to manage cost control and financial/budget experience handling multiple locations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels.
- Ability to organize and work efficiently; strong attention to detail.
- Ability to navigate labor relations issues and work effectively with union partners, including labor grievances and negotiations.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
- Competitive compensation package of minimum $90,000 – maximum $110,000.
- Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks.
- Sick days: 5 days.
- Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating.
- Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, voluntary long‑term disability.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Employee will spend long periods sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Work environment will be a combination of indoors and outdoors.
