Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Purpose and Scope
Performs a variety of working level, technical, and skilled duties as needed to assure the effective and efficient operation of process, packaging, shipping, equipment, and machinery. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Thursday 2pm to 12:30am.
Essential Responsibilities- Performs skilled duties in support of all process, packaging, and plant equipment. Provides timely assistance to all equipment operators in a professional manner.
- Monitors equipment operations; studies equipment manuals, specifications, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams as needed to resolve equipment malfunctions. Monitors spare parts received and issues inventory locations, assisting the maintenance clerk in ensuring inventory accuracy. Develops and maintains effective relationships with vendors.
- Evaluates engineering alternatives and makes recommendations to the Supervisor.
- Assists in installations of electrical and mechanical systems as needed.
- Trains equipment operators in basic and routine procedures for making adjustments and tuning of equipment for optimum performance.
- Performs any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience- High school diploma and a minimum of one year of experience in a maintenance role.
- Completion of specialized training in a mechanical engineering or electrical automation field through formal apprenticeships, professionally sponsored workshops, vocational training, college, or in-service programs.
- General knowledge of electrical automation and mechanical engineering concepts, theories, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to avoid and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with operators, technicians, vendors, and management.
- Works under the general guidance and direction of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ability to work long hours, weekends, and/or on call.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Forklift certified.
The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Work EnvironmentGenerally performs in an open manufacturing facility and participates in the maintenance and adjustment of equipment. Tasks include walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, climbing, and lifting. Normal eye, hand, and finger dexterity are required. Some exposure to high voltage, pneumatic, hydraulic, and stored pressure systems will exist. Exposure to mechanical pinch points will exist.
