Position Overview
This is a hands‑on role responsible for the day‑to‑day installation and construction of assigned projects in the field. This position is critical to ensuring that our outdoor construction and landscaping projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Alpine Landscaping's quality standards.
The Installer & Operator works directly with a Foreman and Project Manager to complete a wide variety of landscape and outdoor construction projects. This position is expected to actively participate in all phases of installation work while operating equipment, installing irrigation systems, performing site preparation, and assisting with project execution.
This role is best suited for an experienced installer/operator who is confident across most of the services we offer and requires minimal training.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
Project Execution
- Perform installation and construction work according to project plans and specifications
- Read and interpret plans, layouts, scopes of work, and job specifications
- Complete work efficiently and to company quality standards
- Assist in maintaining job site organization, cleanliness, and safety
- Identify and proactively communicate potential issues, changes, or risks
- Work effectively as part of a crew to meet project timelines and production goals
The Installer & Operator is expected to be proficient and hands‑on in most of the following:
- Excavation and grading
- Operation of skid steers, mini‑excavators, and related equipment
- Retaining walls (boulder, block, CMU, and segmental systems)
- Paver patios, walkways, and hardscape installation
- Concrete preparation (base prep, form work, reinforcement, coordination)
- Trenching and pipe laying
- Irrigation and sprinkler system installation, repairs, and troubleshooting
- Planting, sod installation, mulch, decorative rock, and soil preparation
- Weed fabric, edging, and landscape finishes
- Outdoor lighting installation
- General landscape and outdoor construction tasks
- Safely operate and maintain equipment and tools
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Protect client property and existing site features
- Maintain material control and minimize waste
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transportation of materials and equipment
- Help maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in landscape installation and outdoor construction
- Experience operating skid steers, mini‑excavators, and related equipment
- Experience installing and troubleshooting irrigation and sprinkler systems
- Ability to read and follow project plans and layouts
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Physically capable of demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Experience across a wide range of hardscape and landscape services
- Experience with laser grading and site layout
- Experience operating multiple types of construction equipment
- Strong communication skills
- Safety‑conscious mindset
- Report directly to the Foreman and Project Manager
- Communicate material needs and job site requirements
- Notify management of delays, issues, or scope changes
- Assist with project punch lists and warranty items
- Document work as requested through photos and reports
- Snow removal operations during winter months
- Equipment and yard maintenance
- Warranty work and service calls
- Smaller one‑off projects
- Required trainings and safety meetings
- Frequent overtime expected
- Fast‑paced, high‑production environment
- Ability to work extended hours when required to meet project schedules
- Work continues year‑round; schedules may slow slightly depending on weather and workload
- Guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week, even when weather limits projects
