Child Nutrition Worker. Lane 1 - $17.70 per hour, 3.92 hours per day, 5 days per week, 177 days per year. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. There are no benefits with this position. Start Time: 9:20 - 1:45.

Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by a supervisor and finalized through the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. Candidates already employed with Nebo School District, applying for a new position with a lane increase, may decrease in overall steps in the new position if offered, accepted, and not in the same job category.

Purpose StatementThe job of a Child Nutrition Worker is done for the purpose of preparing and serving food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and/or school personnel and maintain facilities and equipment in a safe and sanitary condition.

This job reports to the Child Nutrition Manager.
Essential Functions- Arrange food, condiments, and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items.
- Assist student workers to ensure a safe and efficient work environment and provide role modeling.
- Assist in monitoring food items (e.g., temperature, correct portion, etc.) to verify quantity, quality, and specifications of orders to meet preparation requirements and comply with mandated health standards.
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
- Clean utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas to maintain required sanitary conditions.
- Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition to comply with current health standards.
- Participate in department meetings, in‑service training, workshops, etc. as required for gathering information necessary to perform job functions.
- Report equipment malfunctions to maintain equipment in safe working order.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
- SKILLS required to perform single tasks with potential need to upgrade skills. Specific skills: adhering to safety practices and operating equipment used in a school cafeteria.
- KNOWLEDGE required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; understand multi‑step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge: health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures.
- ABILITY required to schedule activities; collate data; use basic job‑related equipment. Flexibility to work with data using defined processes; operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability to work with others; work with specific job‑related data; utilize specific job‑related equipment. Problem‑solving with data follows prescribed guidelines; problem‑solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability: adapt to changing work priorities; meet schedules; work as part of a team;
maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Responsibilities include working with immediate supervision; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget.
Working EnvironmentPhysical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; significant fine finger dexterity. Requires 5% sitting, 20% walking, and 75% standing. The job is performed under temperature extremes and conditions with exposure to the risk of injury and/or illness.
