Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:30pm
Overtime:
Paid at time and a half
Salary Circa £30k, with guaranteed annual pay rise + performance-related bonus

The CompanyWe are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established and reputable plant hire company based in St Helens, known for supplying and maintaining high‑quality powered access and plant equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a skilled Depot Workshop Engineer to their team.

The RoleAs a Workshop Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of powered access equipment — including scissor lifts, cherry pickers, boom lifts, and telehandlers.
Working within a small, friendly depot team, you will ensure all machinery is maintained to a high standard, safe to use, and ready for hire. This is a hands‑on role that would suit someone mechanically minded, with some electrical knowledge and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities- Service, repair, and maintain a fleet of powered access equipment (scissor lifts, cherry pickers, booms, telehandlers).
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, carrying out repairs efficiently.
- Perform pre‑delivery inspections (PDIs) to ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards.
- Keep accurate service and maintenance records.
- Work closely with the depot team to ensure smooth operations and timely dispatch of machinery.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.
- Valid IPAF qualification.
- Previous experience working in a plant hire workshop or powered access environment.
- Strong mechanical skills, with some basic electrical experience.
- Team player with good communication and organisational skills.
