The Construction Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in St John, IN, responsible for overseeing all aspects of residential home construction from start to finish. This role coordinates and supervises trade partners, site staff, and vendors to ensure homes are built safely, on schedule, and within budget, while meeting quality standards and local building codes. The Construction Manager plans and sequences construction activities, reviews project plans and specifications, and monitors progress through regular site walks and inspections.
This position also manages materials and inventory, addresses onsite issues, communicates proactively with internal teams and customers regarding timelines and expectations, and maintains accurate project documentation. The role supports continuous improvement in construction practices and safety, while representing Olthof Homes' values and commitment to a positive customer experience.
- Strong supervisory skills, including leading site teams and coordinating trade partners.
- Proficiency in construction budgeting, cost control, and managing project financials.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA guidelines, and risk mitigation on-site.
- Hands-on experience in residential construction, including reading plans and specifications.
- Project control abilities, such as schedule management, progress tracking, and quality assurance.
- Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and inspection requirements.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Competence in using construction management software and basic office applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or a degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in residential or community home building management is strongly beneficial.
