Key duties include reading plans, measuring, operating machinery, performing welds, inspecting work, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace, often working with diverse metals and tools from start to finish.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Interpretation:Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
- Cutting & Shaping:Measure, mark, cut, bend, and form metal into specific shapes using various tools.
- Welding:Join metal components using MIG, TIG, Stick, or other processes to meet strict specifications.
- Assembly:Fit and assemble weldments and other parts.
- Quality Control:Inspect welds and finished products for structural soundness and adherence to standards.
- Equipment Operation:Operate welding machines, grinders, cranes, and other shop equipment.
- Maintenance:Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and in good working order.
- Safety:Adhere to all safety protocols and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Material Handling:Move materials using forklifts or overhead cranes.
