Cable Fabricator – responsible for building complex cables for Lockheed Martin's Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program.
Position SummaryThis role involves assembling and testing cable harnesses, performing wiring operations, and ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Prepare wires and perform end‑one functions using the Wirematic system, including hand cutting, stripping, and braiding.
- Conduct wire harness sub‑assembly, shield breakouts, stripping of wire ends, crimping of connector contacts, and insertion of contacts into connectors.
- Use hot‑impression stamping machines to prepare identification sleeves and perform soldering as required.
- Assemble cables on form boards, route, twist, and terminate wires per documentation; operate Cable Scan during wire termination.
- Torque, clean, and prime ferrules before bonding; complete cable assembly per drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Perform continuity checks of cable circuitry to assure compliance with drawing requirements.
- Execute rework operations and set up/operate lugging, wire numbering, stripping, cutting, stamping machines, and swaging equipment.
- Recommend process, tooling, and product improvements to enhance quality, cost, and efficiency.
- Ability to calculate decimals and fractions.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use all necessary tools, materials, and equipment.
- Skill in using computers and learning new applications.
- Ability to qualify for and maintain certifications and/or licenses required for the duties.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Cable fabrication experience.
- Experience performing detailed operations by hand.
- Proven attendance record.
- Ability to work independently and stay on task.
- Ability to follow written instruction.
- Familiarity with J-STD-001 solder requirements.
- Familiarity with SWF and FBM operations.
- 20/20 corrected vision.
- Ability to distinguish colors accurately.
Must obtain an interim Secret clearance and be eligible for a U.S. DoD security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.
ScheduleSchedule:
4-hour day, 3 days off per week (4 x 10 hour day schedule).
