Job Overview

The A&E Technician provides Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) Support to Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT) Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E), and Marine Command Security Force Battalion (MCSFBN) Ammunition Chief.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Properly store SWFLANT Unit Identifier Code (UIC) Security and Training A&E in up to ten (10) Magazines.
  • Facilitate all SWFLANT UIC A&E reporting by providing required data to the assigned Ordnance Information System (OIS) database clerk.
  • Track A&E condition, coordinate request and return unserviceable A&E when required.
  • Process and receive A&E as required to meet training and security requirements.
  • Will be a part of a team that transports A&E for MCSFBn security personnel (Navy and Marine) both on-base and off-base in support of live fire training and qualifications occurring in both the states of Florida and Georgia.
  • Ensure sufficient vehicles to support three simultaneous live fire ranges.
  • Certified to handle Class 1.1 through 1.4 Division Explosives.
  • Maintain eligibility and participate in the Qualification/Certification Program of either SWFLANT or MCSFBn in accordance with MCO 8023.3 (Series) (Marine Corps Qualification and Certification (Qual/Cert) Program) or OPNAVINST 8023.24D (Navy Qual/Cert Program), including AA&E Screening and appropriate medical certification. This requires personnel physicals for all Contractor personnel handling A&E.
  • Process, handle, and store ammunition and explosives as applicable following procedures and directions outlined in NAVSUP PUB 724 and OPNAV 5530.13 (series).
  • Store and secure ammunition in Government provided designated magazines.
  • Segregate materials based on its Class/Division Explosive designation.
  • Verify incoming material and ammunition to ensure container markings, tags, labels, etc., all agree with that shown on the receipt documentation relative to National Stock Number (NSN), Part Number (P/N), condition, quantity, and description to include the Navy Ammunition Logistics Code (NALC) and Lot Number when looking at ammunition.
Ammunition Sentencing
  • Perform sentencing actions for all ammunition in support of SWFLANT and MCSFBN.
  • Ensure they are sentencing only 2T COG ammunition. Contractors issued MCSFBn inspection indicators will ensure they are only sentencing 0T COG ammunition.
A&E (Class 1.1 through 1.4) Inventories
  • Assist and support all inventories required by Government employees (Military or Civilian) of both SWFLANT and MCSFBn.
A&E Issue, Replenishment, Disposal, and Receipt Operations
  • Issue A&E to Government authorized personnel for scheduled training exercises and/or during the performance of unscheduled security operations.
  • Discrepancies involving ammunition will be reported to the MCSFBn/SWFLANT AA&E Officer immediately upon discovery.
  • Required documentation which supports the issue, turn-in, inventories, receipts, and recommendations for replenishment will be provided to the SWFLANT primary OIS Data Base Administrator (DBA) or alternate OIS DBA.
  • Screen A&E for applicable Notice of Ammunition Reclassifications (NARs), in accordance with NAVSUP P-801.
  • If there are applicable NARs, make appropriate reclassifications to the material and annotate stock documents (i.e., in the magazine) as may be required by the NAR.
  • Notify the SWFLANT primary or alternate OIS DBA of any NARs applied to stock.
  • In addition to screening existing material stocks each time a NAR is received, check for NARs upon receipt of any incoming material and prior to issue of any outgoing material and ensure the primary or alternate SWFLANT OIS DBA is notified.
  • As applicable and as approved by the Government, dispose of A&E as directed.
