JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for performing a variety of specialized functions in infrastructure maintenance and repairs.
As a municipal organization, the City of St. Marys is an emergency provider of services. Some emergency situations, including weather related emergencies, may necessitate City of St. Marys employees to assist in areas of work which may not be directly related to the employees specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee.
MAJORDUTIES
The Water and Sewer Field Maintenance Crew Leader assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINESGuidelines include OSHA safety guidelines, EPD guidelines, vac‑con guidelines, driver safety, safety truck operations, and OSHA guidelines. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK- The work consists of variety of heavy equipment operation and maintenance duties.
- The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of specialized maintenance and repair functions. Success in this position contributes to efficient and effective operations of this department.
- Contacts are typically with supervisor, co‑workers, and general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
- The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally lifts heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and utilizes sense of smell.
- The work is performed in a noisy place or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, and grease, machinery with moving parts, and contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent required; and
- More than two years of related experience required; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
- Possession of a valid state driver’s license issued for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Class A CDL.
