Carpenter, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

Amentum is seeking a Carpenter/Roofer to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia.

Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building, woodwork, and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood. Work involves planning, laying out, and executing tasks based on blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.

• Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
• Use carpenters’ hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
• Make shop calculations relating to dimensions or work.
• Select materials necessary for the work.
• Inspect and identify stress, wear, and failure of commercial built‑up roofing and single‑ply systems.
• Repair commercial low and steep‑slope roofs according to manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshoot and identify areas of rainwater intrusion into building structures.
• Identify, modify, and repair metal components, flashings, gravel stops, roof panels, pitch pockets, and coping.
• Inspect, disassemble, and modify steel siding, siding channel, and flashing to prevent water intrusion.
• Perform other maintenance and modification tasks related to guiding structures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school education or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of verifiable current roofing experience, including a minimum of two (2) years as a journey‑level carpenter.
• Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, blueprint reading, measurement, and layout.
• Must complete a National Roofing Contractor Association‑approved roofing seminar within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
• Must possess the standard tools of the trade and be able to work at various heights with mechanical lifting devices.
• Valid state driver’s license and hard‑toed safety shoes meeting ASTM F2413‑05 standards.
• Subject to a government security investigation and ongoing eligibility for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

• Walking, frequent standing, climbing up to 35 feet, stooping/bending (moderate), occasional crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Personal Protective Equipment, including safety shoes, will be required.

• Health & Welfare benefits contributed $15.42 per hour (effective 12/01/25).

• Paid Time Off:
  Starts at 2.62 hours per pay period (136 hours annually), increasing with tenure.

• Shift differential: $1.75–$2.00 per hour depending on shift start time.
• Hazard pay: $3.00 per hour for designated high‑risk work areas.
• Lead pay:
  Additional $2.25 per hour for lead roles.
• On‑call pay:
  Two hours of overtime pay per day when on call during off‑days/holidays.
• Safety Shoes allowance: $175 annually.
• Prescription Safety Glasses allowance: up to $250 annually.
• Compensation: $36.45 per hour.
