EHS Engineer Position at Keystone Powdered Metal Company
Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time EHS Engineer who will be working in our St. Marys, PA location. This person will report to the Corporate Manager of EHS.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for Safety & Health programs, Workers' Compensation, and compliance with Federal, State, and OSHA regulations.
- Monitor employee health and safety activities and ensure OSHA compliance.
- Support and manage risk management initiatives and insurance programs.
- Conduct environmental evaluations and sampling, maintain permit compliance records, and prepare required reports with support from the Corporate EHS Manager.
- Administer the site Workers' Compensation program and manage the plant security system.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and violations; prepare reports and determine root causes.
- Review, update, and develop safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and equipment safety/guarding evaluations for new or modified equipment.
- Provide health, safety, and environmental training, including new hire orientation.
- Manage the Contractor Safety Review Program
- Responsible for all activities related to onsite Safety Committee.
- Coordinate the site First Responder program and required training; support corporate programs as needed.
- Maintain inventory of health and safety equipment and supplies.
- Perform industrial hygiene sampling as needed with support from the Corporate EHS Manager.
- Manage Regulatory, Governmental, and Insurance inspections with support from the Corporate EHS Manager, as needed.
- Manage accident/incident investigations and emergency preparedness programs, including evacuation and spill response drills.
- Identify and manage hazardous waste streams, maintain waste manifests, and oversee the site SDS system and chemical inventory.
- Monitor the Hearing Conservation Program and coordinate annual employee hearing tests.
- Respond to corporate requests and support site Safety & Environmental capital projects and budget planning as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Health, Safety, or Environmental field. (and/or 5 years' experience in relevant fields)
- Computer skills including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, Safety System Software.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- A work ethic that includes strong desire for continuous improvement.
- Able solve problems with a positive attitude and sound attention to details.
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
