Position: Plant Manager          at MPP        in        Saint Marys,        Pennsylvania

Plant Manager

The Plant Manager is responsible for directing all aspects of operations through a team of functional managers and supervisors. Also develops and delivers strategies for continual improvement in the area of operational excellence that aligns with the business strategy for safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost, employee engagement and customer service. The PM ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction, while improving the efficient use of the workforce, materials and equipment.

Lead daily plant operations across multiple shifts (compaction, sintering, secondary operations, finishing)

Responsible for QDIPS (Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity and Safety) for the plant

Responsible for the overall safety performance of the plant by ensuring that all areas of the plant operate in a safe and responsible manner through compliance with all safety and environmental procedures and policies. Serve as the primary leader of the plant in promoting ZERO recordables, continuous improvement in safety, and environmental areas.

Maintain regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, environmental, and safety standards).

Promote a culture of zero defects and continuous quality improvement.

Closely monitors the plant's communications, safety, training and employee engagement programs.

Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF quality systems and customer specifications.

Drive 8D problem solving throughout the organization.

Coordinates the development and establishes plant manufacturing objectives consistent with forecast sales and marketing objectives and production capacity.

Participates in coordinating the development of the Business Plan/Budget and annual capital programs with proper organizational assignments of responsibility and priority to achieve the plant's objectives.

Participates in developing long range strategic plans for the business unit and is responsible for performance to these plans.

Monitoring plant performance against the budget and takes necessary action through cost control methods to attain plant budgetary objectives and maximizes use of investment in inventories and facilities.

Collaborate with Headquarters and participate in overall objective planning.

Responsible for leading a team that identifies cost reduction opportunities in labor, materials, tooling, energy usage, and maintenance.

Measures performance relative to production quality and quantity expenditures, utilization of

Develop and execute capital expenditure plans.

Lead equipment upgrades, automation initiative, and plant modernization projects

Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance systems are effective.

Take active participation in directing pricing and estimating policies in line with strategies and profit achievement.

Develop plant policies and procedures consistent with overall MPP Group policies and procedures.

Lead and develop department managers and supervisors.

Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and teamwork.

Appraises the performance of subordinate managerial personnel and develops subordinates for promotional consideration, within an overall plant manpower plan. Select subordinate managerial personnel as necessary.

Participates in and directs plant's community relations role.

Occasional Travel to Customers, Suppliers, Headquarters, or other MPP sites

Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and upper management.

Strong financial acumen

Knowledge of Lean and continuous improvement tools

Excellent leadership, communication, and decision making

Ability to manage through metrics and data-driven decision making

Requires Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline.

Minimal 7-10 years of experience supervising a staff in a manufacturing setting.

Minimal 3-5 years of experience managing and mobilizing cross functional teams through operational changes in process, environment and resources.

Minimal 1-3 years of experience in Lean Manufacturing waste reduction techniques (5-S, Daily Management, SMED, TPM, etc).

Demonstrated experience in capital-intensive, multi shift operations.

Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Also, background and fundamental knowledge of ERP systems.

Frequently walking, standing, and sitting in both office and manufacturing environments.

Occasionally lift and move materials or equipment up to 40 pounds.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Visual acuity required for inspections and documentation review.

Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting may be required.

Non-standard/off-shift hours may be necessary for plant support.

Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

Participate in safety training, risk assessments, and hazard identification.

Utilize PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other gear as needed.

Report unsafe conditions or practices promptly.

Promote a safe and clean working environment.
