General Description

The incumbent will be working with the Gaming Regulation and Compliance Department: this is a non-supervisory position in which the incumbent will assure that all the departments of the casino are following applicable food, health, safety, and environmental laws. This position conducts workplace and guest incident root cause investigations, leads safety inspections, coordinates training, and implements hazard mitigation strategies across all casino departments.

The coordinator does not process or administer insurance, workers' compensation, or benefits-related claims; all claim administration functions remain entirely separate.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Safety Program Management
    • Organize annual safety goals, objectives and training activities
    • Ensure compliance with Tribal regulations, EPHS standards, and gaming industry best practices.
  • Incident Response and Investigation
    • Conduct thorough incident root cause analysis investigations on accidents
    • Complete Safety Incident Reports
    • Provide recommendations for preventing reoccurrence.
  • Safety Inspections and Hazard Mitigation
    • Conduct regular inspections of gaming areas, hotel rooms, kitchens, restaurants, maintenance shops, administrative offices, and other public spaces.
    • Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
    • Maintain documentation of inspections and hazard mitigation activities.
  • Food, Health and Environmental Safety
    • Support food safety programs, sanitation standards, and health code compliance across all food and beverage areas.
    • Monitor indoor air quality, chemical storage, waste management, and environmental safety.
    • Ensure compliance with Tribal, state, and federal health regulations.
  • Training and Education
    • Conduct new-hire safety orientation.
    • Work with Training Coordinator to assure safety trainings on OSHA topics, emergency procedures, PPE use, blood borne pathogens, slips/falls, fire prevention, and other casino‑specific safety topics are covered.
  • Emergency Preparedness
    • Maintain and update the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) with the Safety Committee
    • Assist in planning fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency response coordination with Casino, Tribal Police, Fire, EMS, and the Gaming Commission.
  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Maintain logs and other safety records.
    • Prepare weekly, monthly/quarterly safety reports for leadership.
    • Track trends to identify high‑risk areas and recommend improvements.

Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management, or related field preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required or obtained within six months.
  • Experience in gaming, hospitality, Tribal government, or similar industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulations and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and write clear, factual reports.
  • Skilled with MS Office, and/or incident tracking tools.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal gaming license.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to Tribal policies.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Must be able to carry 25lbs or more.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to work varied hours outside of regular shift.
  • May be required to climb ladders and access tight, cramped spaces.
  • Exposure to varied weather conditions.
  • Will be exposed to loud noises and second‑hand smoke.
