We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs more than 750 employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district is comprised of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.
Position Overview & Responsibilities
Instruct and supervise students in Community Education summer programming through Camp Trailblazer. Instructors lead or assist weekly themed activities that include hands-on art projects, STEM challenges, and high-energy games. Staff foster a safe, engaging environment that supports confidence-building, teamwork, creativity, and fun.
Responsibilities include planning and facilitating daily activities, supervising campers throughout the day, and supporting smooth transitions between activities.
Start Date:
6/08/2026
Contract:
Seasonal, June 8 through August 14, 2026
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, between 8:00 a.m.
-4:00 p.m. Lead instructors are scheduled for full-day shifts with paid prep time. Assistant/aide roles offer flexible, partial-day shifts within program hours. Scheduled hours vary by role and are contingent on class enrollment and program needs.
FTE: varies per activity
Salary & Benefits
Starting Rates:
Hourly wages are based on role, responsibilities, and experience with Community Education.
Aide: $15.50 per hour
Assistant: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
Lead: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
No benefit eligibility, other than Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST) as provided by law.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Experience working with or supervising children in a camp, classroom, or youth program setting
* Experience leading group activities, games, or hands-on learning experiences
* Ability to manage groups of students in a structured yet fun environment
* Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
* Ability to plan and adapt activities based on age group and weekly themes
