SALARY: $32,000 - $44,000 WORK YEAR: 180 Days
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and School Principal

DESCRIPTION:
The Special Education Personal Care Aide is directly responsible to the Director of Special Education in conjunction with the School Principal and Teacher who supervise their job assignment. Therefore, their job duties encompass the following areas:
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE (School Bus):
- Ensure that students enter and leave the bus in a safe manner.
- Ensure that students are properly and safely seated at all times.
- Provide attention to students with special health needs, such as seizures.
- Report and assist with keeping records of all major discipline problems, accidents, and current bus roster.
CLASSROOM ASSISTANCE:
- Attend to the toileting needs of students. This includes routine bathroom scheduling, cleanup of toileting accidents and vomit.
- Assist children with eating where assistance is required.
- Assist children with activities of daily living-dressing, etc.
- Keep records of behavior as mandated by student needs.
- Maintain schedule of the student assigned for individual care unless otherwise changed by principal or special education administration.
- Provide physical support as needed to access the curriculum (i.e. assistance with walking or student's physical preparations for class).
OTHER DUTIES:
- Attend in-service meetings and trainings which is considered mandatory and is given to all aides to develop skills and special techniques unique to students with disabilities.
- Additional duties as assigned by the teacher and administrator.
