About STMA Schools
We serve over 6,700 students and employ more than 750 staff in a north‑western suburb of Minneapolis. The district includes one primary school (kindergarten), three elementary schools (grades 1‑4), two middle schools (grades 5‑8), and one high school (grades 9‑12).
Position Overview & Responsibilities
• Prepare and deliver lessons to a range of student abilities.
• Assess student learning and analyze data to guide instruction.
• Create an engaging and respectful classroom environment.
• Communicate with students, parents, and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records and supervise students.
• Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional development.
Contract
:
November 12, 2026 – March 1, 2027 (includes one day of onboarding with Employee Services and one day of classroom shadowing/training).
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education.
Required teaching certificate in a relevant instructional area as mandated by the State of Minnesota.
Specific content knowledge, training, or job experience required before appointment.
Successful completion of student teaching.
Communications Arts/Literature licensure (grades 9‑12) preferred.
Salary & Benefits
- Wages
:
Long‑Term Substitute Certified Staff Rate with appropriate Certification from PELSB: $259.63 per day. Short‑call substitute license only: $180‑$205 per day, depending on days worked in a STMA teaching assignment during the previous school year. - Benefits
:
Available but without district contribution for fully certified teachers if contract days are less than 30. Fully certified teachers with assignments longer than 30 days are entitled to district contribution at the full‑time (1.0 FTE) benefit level. Benefits may be available with short‑call substitute license, depending on assignment. Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST) will be provided as required by law for either license type.
