Building Substitute Teacher
We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.
Responsible for preparing lessons, instructing students with a wide range of abilities, assessing student learning, collecting and analyzing student data to plan instruction, creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment, communicating with students, parent and multiple stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, supervising students, participating in school improvement initiatives and learning professionally. This is a district-wide position, assigned to a specific building. The Building Substitute Teacher will primarily fill absences among certified staff, but may be assigned to before and after school duty, lunch duty, supervision and other duties. The Building Substitute may also be assigned to fill support staff absences and may be assigned to other buildings on a daily or semi-permanent basis, based on the needs of the district.

Schedule:
7:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, student contact days only.
Bachelor's degree and required substitute teaching license or regular teaching license (short-call, long-call, or lifetime substitute teaching license or Tier 3 or Tier 4 teaching license).
Competitive salary and benefits package. Salary Range: $33,735 to $35,465. To be eligible for the higher level of pay, must have worked as a licensed teacher in a full-time, long-term substitute, building substitute, or daily substitute capacity for at least 60 student contact days in the STMA School District during the school year.

This position is a one year long, exempt, salaried position and receives 10 days (80 hours) of Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) and 2 days (16 hours) of Personal Time.
Benefit eligibility will run from September 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027.
This position is eligible for the same benefits contributions and benefits elections as our certified staff; however, the certified staff collective bargaining agreement does not apply to this position.
