Design Engineer
Job Summary
The primary function of the Associate Design Engineer is to support the Engineering team in the design and documentation of custom industrial water treatment and process equipment. Using Solid Works on a daily basis, you will create and revise 3D models, piece‑part drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). You will also generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), prepare customer and production drawing packages, and collaborate with manufacturing and senior engineers to ensure designs are accurately translated into finished equipment.
This role provides excellent exposure to custom machinery design, industrial piping systems, and project‑based engineering in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Create and revise 3D models and assemblies using Solid Works.
- Generate documents and control drawings using Solid Works.
- Prepare and update Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Support preparation of customer‑facing drawing packages and submittals.
- Develop internal production drawings for manufacturing and purchasing.
- Work with vendors to gather technical information on purchased components.
- Respond to questions from production and assembly personnel regarding drawings and specifications.
- Interact with and provide guidance to third‑party design resources.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with senior engineers.
- Assist with engineering changes and drawing revisions.
- Maintain accurate engineering files and documentation.
- Adhere to and support all company safety policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
- Basic proficiency with Solid Works or similar 3D CAD software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Willingness to learn and accept feedback from senior engineers and project managers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work at a computer.
- Willingness to cross‑train and support other engineering functions as needed.
- Prior internship or co‑op experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or water treatment.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio.
- Familiarity with P&IDs, industrial piping systems, and mechanical assemblies.
- Exposure to ERP systems and BOM management.
