Location: St. Neots

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist with 2–3 years’ professional experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your ecological career, working on a diverse range of projects. You will support the delivery of ecological surveys, assessments, and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with and leading a range of protected species and habitat surveys (e.g. bats, reptiles, great crested newts, birds)
  • Supporting the preparation of technical reports, including PEAs, EcIAs, and method statements
  • Undertaking data analysis and contributing to project deliverables
  • Assisting with licence applications and mitigation strategies
  • Carrying out site walkovers and assisting with habitat assessments
  • Supporting project management and ensuring work is delivered on time
Requirements
  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • 2–3 years’ relevant consultancy or industry experience (including placements or graduate roles)
  • Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
  • Experience supporting ecological surveys and report writing
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Proactive, with a willingness to learn and develop
  • A full UK driving licence
Desired skills and experience
  • Protected species survey licences e.g. bat or great crested newt
  • Membership of CIEEM (or working towards)
  • Experience with GIS software

Core working hours are Monday – Friday 9.00am – 17.30pm.

This is a permanent full-time position based on 37.5 hours (Monday – Friday) however we’re fully open to discussing part-time flexible working requirements. We also operate a ‘Smart Working’ policy, enabling our employees to enjoy a work/life balance.
