DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
The accountant is a crucial member of the Finance Office, responsible for general ledger accounting and deferred gift management, while maintaining primary ownership of the Accounts Payable function.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000

Main Responsibilities Accounts Payable Administration- Review weekly disbursements, along with initiating files for electronic payments
- Responsible for overseeing purchase card program, including developing policies and procedures for the program
- Ensure policies and procedures for processing accounts payable transactions are consistent with college policy and external requirements
- Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable specialist, when needed
- Assist with audit process, including audit workpaper preparation and evaluation of internal controls
- Prepare account reconciliations on a timely and accurate basis
- Maintain deferred gift accounting transactions, including preparing and submitting various filings
- Assist with month end processing of journal entries and department imports
- Assist with cash management including daily reconciliation of cash activity for the College's general cash account and various other cash accounts
- Work collaboratively with other departments on campus related to accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with the preparation of annual surveys
- Serve on campus committees, as requested
- Provide backup support for other Finance Office positions
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Ability to analyze and solve problems independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Well organized, accurate and detail oriented
- Proven ability to handle highly confidential information responsibly
- Strong Excel skills
- Higher education/nonprofit experience
