A. Hoffmann Center (LAHC). LAHC is a private, nonprofit corporation committed to assessing and providing high quality, outcome‑based mental health services for children and adolescents. This is a fantastic opportunity for educators who are excited to work in a supportive, impactful environment where building relationships is key to student success.
Under the direction of the school principal, the Elementary Education teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. This position involves significant collaboration with a special education teacher, as many students in this setting have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher is responsible for creating a structured learning environment that supports student growth toward grade‑level standards and provides access to the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible through supplemental aids, accommodations, modifications, and other necessary supports.
This position will be filled on the basis of the experience, competency, and qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the district. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Valid Minnesota teaching certificate OR the ability to obtain MN teaching certificate.
- Required endorsements for subject and level assigned – Elementary Education
- Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
