Role Summary

The FCC Manager will assist in leading Apex Guernsey financial crime compliance efforts across monitoring, investigations, and client/investor risk advisory. They will act as an escalation point for complex Financial Crime/Sanctions cases, drive risk-based enhancements to the firm’s monitoring framework, and provide guidance to the business on high-risk client matters, including PEP’s, sources of wealth validation, and sanction issues. The role is instrumental in ensuring compliance with the GFSC Handbook and Apex Group Financial Crime standards, and in building a proactive, intelligence led FCC culture.

Responsibilities

I. Monitoring & Investigation:

  • Support in oversee the day-to-day operation of Financial Crime matters such as transaction and trigger event monitoring systems (i.e. Resolver)
  • Manage case workflows, triage and investigate alerts, and ensure timely resolution or escalation;
  • Monitoring typologies and trends to evolve detection rules and advise on;
  • Coordinate with first line and operations teams to gather investigative information.
Enhanced Due Diligence & High
- Risk Client Review

- Risk Client Review:

  • Undertake comprehensive EDD reviews on clients classified as high risk, including PEPs, complex structures, and higher-risk jurisdictions;
  • Analyse and verify source of wealth/funds and supporting documentation;
  • Assess client risk profiles and elevate any material concerns to the FCC Manager;
  • Maintain clear, audit trails of all reviews and rationale for decisions.
Advisory & Client Risk

III. Advisory & Client Risk:

  • Serve as a subject matter expect for Financial Crime advisory queries, including onboarding, trigger events and ongoing monitoring;
  • Provide timely and risk sensitive guidance on high-risk clients, PEPs, sanctions exposure and complex structures;
  • Review and approve enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients and investors;
  • Provide FCC input for new products, services and jurisdictional expansion.
Management & Oversight

IV. Management & Oversight:

  • Mentor and support senior analysts/AVPs within the FCC team;
  • Produce MI and dashboards for the Head of FCC and MLRO/MLCO on trends, backlog, investigations, and risks;
  • Contribute to the FCC Risk Assessment and review policies, controls and procedures;
  • Ensure internal SLA’s and financial crime expectations (including timelines) are met and documented.
Skills & Attributes
  • Deep knowledge of AML, CFT and CPF, sanctions, fraud prevention, bribery / corruption frameworks;
  • Understanding of fund structures, investor onboarding, and CDD obligations;
  • Strong knowledge of risk-based approaches, including CDD, EDD, PEP/sanction screening and transaction monitoring methodologies.
  • Ability to assess risk in complex client structures or transactional behaviour;
  • Strong investigative and problem-solving mindset;
  • Confident in advising stakeholders on sensitive or high-risk issues;
  • Strong written communication (SAR drafting, advisory notes, MI reports);
  • High level of professional integrity and discretion;
  • Risk-aware, detail-oriented, and delivery focused
