Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, making an effort to learn their names and address them by name whenever possible.
  • Escort customers to desired products, secure items that are out of reach, assist in loading or unloading heavy items, take note of and pass along customer suggestions or requests, and perform other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
  • Stock received products and supplies, marking stickers accordingly.
  • Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Review prescriptions that are not picked up as requested by the department manager.
  • Order product and supplies at the department manager’s request.
  • Review invoices on product received.
  • Coordinate nursing home medicines as necessary.
  • Log invoices as necessary.
  • Prepare paperwork and compile medicine for delivery orders and mail‑outs at the request of the department manager.
  • Clean, empty garbage, and maintain a clean and inviting appearance of the pharmacy.
  • Take orders for refills from customers.
  • Remove trash in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Gather patient information required to prepare prescriptions.
  • Keep pharmacy supplies well stocked.
  • Perform cash transactions.
  • Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Administer vaccines as allowed by law.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete the sale.
  • Assist in other areas of store as needed.
  • Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers).
  • Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; guide people.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience.
  • If applicable, vaccination certification as required by law.
Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and exert a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Must be able to perform: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Conditions

This position is exposed to noise on a daily basis. It is a fast‑paced work environment with significant pressure. There is occasional exposure to dangerous chemicals/solvents while compounding products and chemotherapy drugs.

Equipment Used to Perform Job

PC with pharmacy software and printer, cash register, pharmacy balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, and copier.

Confidentiality

Maintains the confidentiality of customers’ private medical information.

Compensation

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $13.00 to $16.25 depending on experience.

Contacts

Deals with the general public on a daily basis and works with suppliers/vendors monthly.
