Who We Are

Leo

A. Hoffmann Center (LAHC) is a nonprofit PRTF serving adolescent males with complex mental health needs. We deliver individualized plans of care in a collaborative, team‑based environment focused on safety, growth, and positive outcomes.

Make a real difference supporting adolescents (11-17) in our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). As a Youth Counselor on our residential behavioral health team, you'll provide direct care, coaching, and de‑escalation in a structured, trauma‑informed mental health setting- an excellent stepping stone for a career in residential treatment and mental health.

Youth Counselor - Mental Health & Residential Care

Full‑Time (72-80 hrs/pay period, every other weekend required) or Part‑Time (~24 hrs/weekly)

Starting Pay: $19.75-$20.63/hour (based on education and experience)

What You'll Do

  • Provide a nurturing, structured environment; model pro‑social skills and maintain close client supervision
  • Use trauma‑informed behavior management and de‑escalation techniques; support crisis and safety plans
  • Administer medications per protocol (after training/competency); maintain accurate logs
  • Complete timely documentation (daily notes, incidents, care plan updates) per program procedures
  • Collaborate with clinicians and nursing on individualized treatment plans; communicate changes in client status
  • Participate in shift handoffs/team meetings; contribute to a positive, mission‑aligned culture

What We're Looking for:

  • 21+ years of age
  • Bachelor's degree in social/human services, psychology, or related field preferred (equivalent experience welcome)
  • Ability to stay calm, present, and professional in challenging situations with youth
  • Ability to push, pull or lift 50lbs
  • Reliability for rotating every other weekend coverage and assigned shifts (if working Full Time)
  • Basic computer/EHR comfort; strong teamwork and communication
