Responsibilities
  • The Director of Operations for the Stafford division is responsible for overall management and coordination of a site manufacturing operations segment to deliver products in the most cost-efficient manner while adhering to safety, quality and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Lead initiatives to improve overall plant efficiency and effectiveness by working with cross functional teams through continuous improvement processes.
  • Work closely with Process Engineering and Equipment Maintenance to ensure manufacturing processes are stable, in statistical control and meeting specifications.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Production Control Management teams to meet business growth goals and customer expectations for quality and delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set the operations vision and strategy to meet long- and short-term company goals, including definition and communication of goals, key objectives, and metrics.
  • Develop operational plans and financial budgets based on company objectives, sales forecasts, inventory requirements, and related factors; stay current with manufacturing trends.
  • Provide direction and leadership for subordinates in the management of their assigned areas to ensure objectives and performance align with policies and programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all assigned functions, operations, and programs to meet objectives in accordance with product specifications, quality standards, budgets and time frames; take corrective action as needed.
  • Execute continuous improvement initiatives including goal setting and project selection/completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed plans to achieve group goals (e.g., revenue, gross margins, operating budgets, yields, throughput, inventory, rework, scrap, on-time delivery, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction); monitor performance against standards and take corrective actions as required.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with other company functions to support the operation.
  • Support business development proposals and engineering efforts by providing technical and production resources.
  • Develop and maintain an effective operations organization through selection, training, development, compensation and motivation of personnel; recommend organizational structures and staffing in support of objectives.
  • Ensure facility security and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Comply with approved affirmative action programs and equal employment opportunity policies.
  • Comply with laws, company policies and procedures including EEO, Affirmative Action, Business Ethics, EPA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • May handle hazardous waste as outlined in departmental instructions; RCRA training is required on initial hire and annually thereafter:
    Introduction to RCRA, Properties of Facility Waste, Waste Minimization, Accumulation, Container Management, and Emergency Response Plan.

  • Structured problem solving; lead cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions; experience with LEAN and Six Sigma; visual factory management techniques.
  • Ability to define, acquire, process, present, and interpret data to monitor manufacturing processes relevant to the production plan.
  • Business acumen and decision-making skills to balance risk and strategic impact.
  • Risk management awareness to mitigate execution risks.
  • Ability to relate operational performance to financial performance.
  • Working knowledge of Sales & Operations Planning processes.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; 15 years in manufacturing including 5+ years at a senior manager level directing operations of a similar facility with direct responsibility to meet production throughput and quality goals.
  • Experience with complex/engineered product lines.
  • Significant experience defining and utilizing manufacturing systems, data, and metrics to plan and execute production plans.
