Scope

Perform required inspections and complete quality department documentation, including First Article Inspections (FAIs). Support Program Managers and production workers with quality issues. Program and utilize CMM equipment and evaluate results. Conduct tool calibrations and assist with disposition of other quality decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Communicate with departments to initiate the FAIR.
  • Ensure the FAIR is prepared in an organized, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Perform the dimensional inspection of parts and tools used by manufacturing using measuring devices (pin gauges, hand calipers, CMM, micrometers).
  • Assist with daily work preparation and completion.
  • Monitor and improve product quality by initiating actions to prevent nonconformity, identifying and recording quality problems, proposing and implementing solutions, verifying the implementation of solutions, and controlling delivery of nonconforming products until corrected.
  • Work with chemicals such as alcohol and acrylics.
  • Test products and complete all related documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and managers, suggest procedural changes, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and report safety hazards and issues.
  • Generate, accumulate, and handle hazardous wastes under the direction of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.
  • Report accidents, near misses and safety concerns; use required PPE; participate in safety training and follow JSA, MSDS and safety procedures and alerts.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • General math skills with ability to understand mechanical measuring concepts and their applications.
  • Ability to use hand measuring tools such as calipers and gauges.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Internet, Email).
  • Knowledge and understanding of AS9100C and AS9102 standards.
  • Knowledge of FAI processes.
  • Good English communication and mathematical skills.
  • Good reading vision, color discrimination, depth perception, and clear speaking ability.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks and be a team player.
  • Adaptability to a changing environment.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work up to 10 hours a day with flexibility for overtime.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods; bend and lean as required.
  • Willingness to cross-train to work in multiple positions across buildings.
  • Ability to safely work with chemical, physical (noise) or biological agents.
Education and Experience
  • Education:

    High school diploma or GED required.
  • Required Experience:

    Previous manufacturing and/or aerospace industry experience preferred.
