Position PurposeThe Security Officer performs general security work in the protection of person, property, and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations of the department, hospital, and any applicable federal, state, or local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safety and security for patients, visitors, and colleagues on the hospital campus.
- Assist staff and others with argumentative, belligerent, and combative individuals, especially when imminent danger exists. May participate as a member of a Restraint Team as directed by medical or nursing staff.
- Patrol assigned areas of the facilities and grounds on foot or car according to an established schedule, investigate unusual occurrences, and report incidents or apparent damage, loss of property, fire, theft, vandalism, or other unusual occurrences.
- Physically assist in restraining psychiatric patients during crisis intervention.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- All state specific licensing requirements, including a permanent Guard card.
- Six (6) months or more of private security, law enforcement, or relevant military experience preferred.
- Knowledge of PC-based applications in a Windows environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to think and act quickly in crisis situations.
- Valid driver’s license preferred. Must be 21 years of age to operate hospital vehicles.
- Must set and organize own work priorities and adapt to changes frequently. Must perform multiple tasks/projects in a stressful environment with diverse personalities and work styles.
- Must comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
- Must be able to lift 11–24 lbs., carry 11–24 lbs., and push/pull 35–40 lbs. Must stand or walk for long periods, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, and reach overhead; climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally.
- May be required to rotate and work long irregular shifts.
