Scope

  • Working within a high‑production industrial environment, the Equipment Maintenance Technician will perform unscheduled and scheduled repairs on production and facility equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery. The technician will be responsible for completing emergency repairs or contacting and working with 3rd‑party vendors to keep production lines operational, and will independently complete daily work orders, preventative maintenance, and maintain paper and computer‑based records.
  • Extensive training is provided to safely and correctly work on each piece of equipment. The technician will be exposed to chemicals and hazardous materials, participate in chemical handling training, and continue safety trainings. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and all safety protocols must be followed.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Observe mechanical machinery, equipment and devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Examine the form and texture of parts to detect imperfections and dimensional changes.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems and visually inspect, listen to and troubleshoot machinery, equipment and mechanical devices.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, repair or replace defective parts, and dismantle defective machinery to access or remove defective parts.
  • Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss the malfunction with the Maintenance Manager, technicians and production staff to diagnose the issue.
  • Lubricate and clean parts and/or install new or repaired parts when required.
  • Install or repair basic electrical apparatus such as wiring and electronic components of machinery and equipment, and start devices to test performance.
  • Assist in the installation of feeders, branch‑circuit wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, relays and contractors, replace damaged or broken wires and cables, and repair or replace faulty electrical components of the machine such as relays, switches, motors and positioning sensing devices.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment; lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
  • Complete maintenance request or PM documentation for all work performed. Communicate status of incomplete work to the Maintenance Manager or next‑shift technician via email or verbally.
  • Actively participate in ongoing job training to become mechanically proficient across all production departments; participate in knowledge sharing and the training of other technicians.
  • Follow and adhere to all environmental, safety, and health policies and procedures without exception.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Technical aptitude and ability to correctly and safely use basic hand power tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain control circuits, electrical components and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and capability to read and follow technical instructions, operation manuals, schematics and diagrams.
  • General computer skills and ability to complete electronic work orders, enter data into systems, and send emails.
  • Ability to stand throughout a shift, lift 40 pounds, work within confined spaces and perform work in a crouched or overhead posture.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends.
  • Maintenance technicians must be able to supply their own set of basic hand tools needed to perform the job.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Experience
  • 2 years of troubleshooting, repairing, and/or installing manufacturing equipment preferred. Previous work experience using trade skills such as electrical, mechanical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing and/or welding preferred. Licensing and journeyman status is preferred.
