Business Development Manager – Advanced Automation Solutions
Job duties: Accelerate the growth of our Automation Solutions portfolio. Responsible for identifying, developing, and securing business opportunities that span advanced control, operator performance, industrial networking, and cybersecurity domains. Promoting and selling cutting‑edge solutions including Advanced Process Control (APC), Operator Training Systems (OTS), High Performance HMI, Alarm Management, OT Cybersecurity, and both wireless and wired plant network infrastructure. Apply industry knowledge, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to translate technical capabilities into compelling business value.
Own and execute the go‑to‑market strategy for advanced automation solutions across Puffer Sweiven’s customer base. Develop and manage a robust pipeline of projects in alignment with customer digital transformation, operational excellence, and reliability goals. Build account strategies to grow market share of Emerson and partner technologies. Promote and position a comprehensive portfolio of solutions, including Advanced Process Control (APC);
Operator Performance Solutions, including Operator Training Systems, High Performance HMI (HP-HMI), and Alarm Management Consulting; OT Cybersecurity Solutions, including risk assessments, asset inventory, secure remote access, and policy enforcement aligned with NIST and IEC 62443 standards;
Industrial Networking, including Design and deployment of wired and wireless plant networks supporting automation and reliability infrastructure;
Digital Twin & Simulation‑Based Engineering;
Data Management and Analytics; and any New Solutions added to the portfolio by the Business Unit Leader. Collaborate with solution architects, engineering teams, and technical specialists to develop tailored proposals and scopes of work. Lead customer‑facing presentations, ROI/value discussions, and executive‑level strategy workshops. Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, engaging across operations, engineering, IT/OT, and executive stakeholders. Develop long‑term relationships by understanding customer challenges and aligning solutions to their business drivers.
Support contract negotiations, project transitions, and post‑sale satisfaction. Partner with internal teams across Sales, Services, Marketing, and Technical Execution to ensure alignment on opportunity pursuit and project delivery. Provide voice‑of‑customer feedback to Emerson and internal leadership to drive portfolio and capability improvements. Monitor market trends, customer investments, and competitor activity in the advanced automation, OT networking, and cybersecurity spaces. Represent Puffer Sweiven and Emerson at industry events, conferences, and user group meetings.
Minimum Requirements for Position
:
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, and 5 years of experience in automation, process control, industrial networking, Analytics solutions, or cybersecurity‑related business development or technical sales; building and closing multi-disciplinary solution sales; working with Emerson Delta
V portfolio, Aspen Tech, and/or other APC platforms; working with plant network architectures, including Ethernet/IP, Wi‑Fi, Wireless
HART, cellular/satellite communications, and fiber optic infrastructure; working with Cybersecurity standards, including NIST and ISA/IEC 62443; and working with and industrial firewall/VPN solutions, including Claroty, Tenable, and Fortinet or equivalent. 25% domestic travel required.
