Job Title:
Field Service Technician

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware running Microsoft Windows and/or Server OS for the purpose of hosting Emerson’s Delta

    V DCS product and associated software.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Delta

    V, AMS, and other associated software at customer sites ranging from process plant environments.to college campuses.
  • Install, Configure, and troubleshoot required power and network infrastructure to support the DCS network architecture and its associated hardware.
  • Assist sales and project management teams with developing quotes for customer control system service work.
  • Routinely communicate scheduling needs and changes with Service Coordinator to ensure strong awareness of availability and capabilities.
  • Available for on-call duty for after-hours emergency customer support as required on a rotational basis. (Estimated to be 4-5 weeks total, per year)
  • Document all service-related activities on field service call reports and in field service shared notebooks using software such as One Note and Salesforce.
  • Generate customer deliverable reports for Preventative and Evaluation services.
  • Collaborate with teammates and share learnings / solutions / troubleshooting experiences.
  • Assist with Field Service shop housekeeping and inventory management.
  • Obtain Training Certifications for assigned product lines as directed by the Field Service Supervisor. Maintain recertifications as required.
  • Regularly reference Knowledge Base Articles to assist in troubleshooting and demonstrate continuous learning to become a highly technical independent contributor in the field.
  • Obtain safety training in the Area Safety Councils for all Systems Support agreement customers. Maintain the training by annually attending refreshers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Knowledge

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC & pass DISA hair follicle drug test and criminal screenings.
  • Must meet company requirements to drive company provided vehicles.

Experience / Skills

  • 2+ years field service technician with IT/OT experience within the process industry preferred.
  • Strong experience in installing computer operating systems and application software. Must have experience utilizing Windows configuration settings (Registry Editor, Domain Policies, Power Shell, etc)
  • Experience supporting Emerson Process Management control systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting other manufacturer’s control system a plus.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient in the use of common business software applications, including Microsoft Office products including Excel, MS Word, One Note, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Effective time management practices and strong habits for documentation of daily activities.
  • Strong desire to take ownership of assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Safety minded, with ability to understand and follow customer policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, and ability to grow and maintain customer relationships.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical reports, procedures, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to recognize problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong background in network communications.
  • General Understanding in AC/DC power and grounding equipment.
