Microvast is seeking a Lead BMS Engineer to join our team who can bring their fresh perspectives and experiences to the team. If you are zealous about an electrified future and looking for a place that values your curiosity, passion, and desire to learn, you have come to the right place.
Responsibilities- Provide technical, and cross‑functional support for BMS engineering activities, including process control, requirements definition, architecture design, software implementation, HIL testing, field testing, system validation, and software release management.
- Collaborate with the global BMS teams and upper management to identify and develop (BMS) architecture and requirements for high‑performance system functions, functional safety, cyber security, and creative solutions.
- Manage BMS development plans, milestones, budgets, and schedules in accordance with technology roadmaps.
- Build and maintain technical competencies in the BMS software, hardware, and validation teams. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership.
- Ensure successful BMS integration with battery packs and external interfaces such as vehicle control units, data loggers, etc.
- Develop and maintain best practices and industry standards for Model‑based function development with MATLAB/Simulink in close consultation with an interdisciplinary and international team.
- Govern design, implementation, and test activities for innovative control algorithms and Real‑time battery SOX estimation methods, including the state of charge (SOC), state of energy (SOE), and state of health (SOH).
- Manage the development of statistics based on big data and machine learning models for predicting and forecasting field failure, cell chemistry variations, battery health degradation, and how various driving behaviors affect battery performance for safety and drivability.
- Focus and govern collaborative engineering culture to enable our teams to provide feedback and different perspectives. Comprehend and develop our team members’ goals and needs.
- Provide technical support to the different teams within the organization.
- Support for the commissioning of products internally or at the customer’s (on‑site or remotely).
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical or other relevant engineering field or a comparable qualification.
- 5+ years’ experience in large, high‑voltage battery pack development, from concept to market.
- Over 3 years’ experience of leading/management of engineering teams.
- Experience with battery management system (BMS) development and verification for high voltage battery packs.
- Knowledge and experience of BMS development according to functional safety ISO 26262 and cybersecurity ISO 21434.
- Strong knowledge of embedded control software development process and documentation for safety‑critical functions.
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for model‑based control development and electrical circuit/control simulation.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of CAN communication protocols (SAE J1939, CAN 2.0B, etc.).
- Knowledge of requirements management and development process (IATF
