Electrical Designer
The Electrical Designer is responsible for the detailed electrical design and documentation of industrial equipment and systems, contributing to panel layouts, wiring schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supporting engineered‑to‑order projects through design and manufacturing phases.
What Will You Do? Electrical Design & Documentation- Produce electrical design deliverables and support development of complete electrical design packages, including schematic diagrams, cable schedules, termination drawings, and accurate BOMs aligned with project scope and manufacturing needs.
- Translate engineering concepts and specifications into detailed, production‑ready drawings.
- Ensure all drawings comply with applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, CSA, IEC, customer requirements).
- Support Electrical Engineers and Senior Designers in developing electrical designs.
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback.
- Identify and communicate design issues and constructability concerns, escalating as needed.
- Assist with engineering support activities for Sales and Applications when required.
- Apply established electrical design standards, templates, and drafting practices.
- Support revision control and documentation updates.
- Provide feedback on opportunities to improve design efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across projects.
- Support Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams in resolving design‑related issues.
- Update drawings based on factory and field feedback.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities as needed.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Design, Electrical Technology, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree a plus).
- 3+ years of experience in electrical design for industrial, OEM, or engineered equipment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ePlan, or equivalent electrical CAD tools.
- Solid understanding of:
- PLC I/O wiring and panel design
- Instrumentation and field device wiring
- Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems for BOM generation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work with moderate supervision and guidance from senior team members.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Experience with compressors, blowers, rotating equipment, or packaged industrial systems.
- Familiarity with UL panel shop requirements and certification processes.
- Experience working with global teams.
