Painter

Location:

Stafford, TX (100% Onsite) Duration: 12 Months Contract Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour on W2

Responsibilities:
  • Surface Preparation:
    Clean, sand, mask, and blast valve surfaces (castings, forgings, and components) to remove rust, scale, and grease prior to painting.
  • Coating Application:
    Mix and apply industrial primers, epoxies, polyurethanes, and other specialized protective coating using air, conventional, or plural component spray systems.
  • Blueprint & Spec Interpretation:
    Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, paint specifications, and Mil-specs to determine required coating thickness (DFT/WFT), color and curing processes.
  • Quality Control:
    Perform routine quality checks, including wet/dry film thickness testing (using gauges) and holiday (adherence/defect) detection to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Clean and maintain spray guns, pumps, booths, and mixing equipment to ensure optimal performance and a safe working environment.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like respirators, and ensure proper handling/disposal of hazardous materials (solvents, thinners, paints).
Must Have:
  • High School or equivalent education required
Experience:

1-3 years of experience as an industrial painter, preferably within a valve manufacturing, heavy machinery, or aerospace environment.

Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of industrial coating materials (two-part epoxies, zinc primers, urethanes) and their respective mixing ratios/pot life.

Equipment Proficiency:
Proven experience operating airless and conventional spray systems as well as surface prep tools (sandblasters, grinders).Detail-Oriented:
Ability to achieve uniform coating thickness and recognize defects like runs, sags, or orange peeling.

Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 LBS, and work while wearing a respirator in a paint booth environment.

Preferred:
  • NACE/AMPP certification or formal vocational training in industrial coating is a significant plus.
