Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance and growth of professional business relationships with customers in selected accounts who influence the selection of regulator, control valve, and actuation products and services.
- Proactively initiates contact with existing and prospective customers via digital communication tools including telephone, email, and video calls.
- Establishes relationships and builds rapport to influence customer preference for Puffer products and repair services.
- Identifies customer requirements, uncovers roadblocks, and demonstrates strong selling skills and account management capabilities to drive sales results.
- Reviews customer inquiries, requests additional information/clarity, and closes sales opportunities.
- Maintains a high degree of product and application knowledge.
- Utilizes Sales Force and other applicable tools to manage business processes.
- Ensures customer receives timely responses on requests.
- Maintains comprehensive customer support with a primary base on customer retention.
- Determines pricing strategy based on various factors for each customer.
- Works with multiple departments and support staff to provide customer solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Completes monthly sales reports and other required correspondence in a timely and effective manner.
- BS/BA degree, engineering or associated technical degree preferred.
- A minimum of 1-3 years proven inside sales experience, including selling products and/or services via phone or email, converting prospects remotely, and managing multiple high‑touch transactions.
- Experience with sizing and selecting control valves, regulators, isolation valves, actuators is strongly preferred.
- Excellent prospecting, opportunity development, and virtual selling skills.
- Excellent analytical and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent organization and ability to multi‑task.
- Strong effective written and excellent oral communication skills with the ability to connect effectively across virtual platforms.
- Strategic thinker—cognizant of factors that may affect account strategy.
- Strong customer service skills, including the ability to develop rapport and trust with customers while creating dependency.
- Strong ability to interact effectively with all levels of customer contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills including engaged listening and acknowledging skills, as well as questioning and discovery skills.
- Strong drive and initiative, highly motivated.
- Strong ability to manage customer expectations relative to deliverables and time frames.
- Exhibits strong self‑management skills including a high degree of professionalism and dependability.
