Technician Water Quality Maint
- The technician will operate and maintain water systems and related equipment such as water softeners and pool systems.

- Operate and ensure the safe operation of water softeners in district facilities
- Deliver salt to water softeners as needed
- Test water hardness at all water softener locations
- Respond to emergency calls related to malfunctioning equipment and water conditions
- Operate power equipment according to manufacturer and safety guidelines
- Assist Cooling Tower Technicians as needed
- Assist Natatorium Manager in maintaining natatorium water quality equipment
- Safety and Inspection
- Regularly examine water quality at district facilities for preventative maintenance and safety
- Report safety hazards to building occupants or campus grounds
- Report conditions that could cause illness or injuries
- Administrative
- Order materials and make recommendations for purchases
- Track time, materials, and labor on each work order and job assignment
- Complete work orders in a timely manner
- Maintain records and prepare reports of work accomplished and costs
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate's Degree preferred
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Ability to communicate with district employees about water conditions and maintain good interpersonal relationships
- Ability to handle work emergencies at various locations throughout the district
- Proven knowledge of water softener repair and operation and use of tools common to various trades
- Ability to understand and apply safety instructions and blueprints
- Ability to plan and lay out work projects and estimate time and materials
- Ability to repair electronic equipment assigned to the water quality technician
- Computer literate
- Ability to read, write, and speak English

The employee will use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves typical safety risks and the need to follow safety precautions when operating equipment.
May work prolonged or irregular hours and must maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work is performed both inside and outside district facilities and may require unusual hours and 24-hour on-call. Exposure to a range of climatic conditions, dust, chemicals, and loud noise. Potential electrical hazards when working on electronic components and systems. Safety clothing and equipment must be worn and safety procedures followed. Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely.
