Deputy Manager
Location:
Stafford, Staffordshire
Job Type: Full‑time
Salary – Circa £39,000 (includes sleep‑in allowance of £70.47 per shift, average 11 per month)
Excellent opportunity for an experienced, qualified candidate to join the team in one of our children’s residential homes. We are a rapidly expanding organisation offering a competitive salary and benefits including a bespoke training package and generous remuneration for sleep‑in shifts. We specialise in supporting children and young people who have suffered early life trauma, neglect or abuse and may display challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities- Lead the team to deliver high‑quality care to young people
- Ensure all risks are safely managed in line with company policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with the team regarding daily plans
- Review young people’s care plans and other associated documentation
- Undertake and deliver an in‑depth quality and bespoke training package
- Attend and chair staff meetings and proactively develop and improve the service model
- Advocate for the young person using a positive parenting model
- Work with young people using positive support strategies, including de‑escalation tools and techniques using in‑house training (PRICE)
- Support the Manager with day‑to‑day tasks and run the home in the Manager’s absence
- Complete on‑call duties when required
- Positive parenting skills
- Exceptional communication skills
- Sound working knowledge of current legislation (e.g., Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and quality standards)
- Ability to provide support and positive role‑modeling to staff (including completing supervisions)
- Must complete a Diploma Level 5 in Children’s Residential Care
- Open‑minded, empathetic, calm, and professional
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Manager in a professional manner
- Full manual driving licence
- Fully flexible, able to work unsociable shift patterns
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare
- Desire to develop into a Registered Children’s Home Manager
- Participate in further continuing professional development supporting the needs of young people
- Clear passion and desire to support children and young people
- Active member of a progressive and committed team
