Salary Range: $41,950.27 To $65,861.95 Annually
The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking a Recovery Court Assistant to perform intermediate skilled administrative support work performing a variety of administrative support duties in support of Recovery Court operations and programs, preparing and maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Duties- Prepares weekly adult and juvenile court orders and all orders associated with scheduled court times such as commitment and release orders, Deputies List, Graduation Certificates; pulls warrants; produces curfew extension forms and phasing up certificates; updates participant and case numbers lists; generates adult and juvenile dockets.
- Processes Recovery court referrals; schedules clinical evaluations, notifies treatment program of appointment, and generates court letters; communicates, updates, and notifies applicable staff, court, and legal representatives via electronic means.
- Receives, organizes, coordinates, and records assorted court records and fees.
- Receives, organizes, and coordinates court orders and various related documents; enters data into computer system; compiles and maintains a variety of records; ensures accuracy of data, copies money orders, and generates calculator tape of totals.
- Attends weekly adult and juvenile staffing and court; provides necessary documentation for court proceedings.
- Enters a variety of information into computer systems; transcribes a variety of documents, correspondence, reports and memoranda from dictation, handwritten, or computer-generated drafts and recorded material.
- Provides Recovery court obligations to new participants; activate new participants in Recovery Court database; generates graduation invitations; gather plea agreements and referral orders; provides program quarterly statistical data.
- Greets the public, speaks with clients, and answers incoming telephone calls; directs calls or inquiries to appropriate party for disposition; schedules appointments; provides a variety of program-based information and answers questions while conforming to privacy rules and within the scope of authority of the position.
- Maintains filing system and databases by entering information, sorting, and filing documents; archives and destroys documents according to established procedures for document retention management.
- Obtain court certification for documents; aids court legal representatives as needed.
- Performs the collection and testing of observed urine drug screens.
- High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in administrative support and office operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and office support techniques; general knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic; skill in the operation of standard office equipment.
- Ability to operate personal computer and specialized software packages; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to read, understand, and interpret difficult materials with complicated information that may contain excerpts from regulatory and/or legal documents.
- Ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to perform and organize work independently; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform office management details without referral to supervisor.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, court and legal representatives, inmates, law enforcement agents, and the general public.
- May require possession of or ability to acquire specific licenses and/or certifications depending on departmental assignment.
- Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
