- Job Title: Part-Time Paraprofessional SOS (Start on Success) – Level 2

- Reports To: Assistant Director of Special Education (High School)
- FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
- Work Calendar: 10 Month (185) Days Service Staff
- Salary Scale: Instructional Support Salary Scale
This position works closely with one or several pupils with disabilities on a regular basis in an effort to provide them with the physical assistance and emotional support they need to gain full benefits from the district’s special education program.
Essential Functions- Assists student(s) with physical tasks and reinforces instructional content.
- Provides physical assistance such as putting on and taking off outer wear, moving from room to room, and using lavatory and other self‑help or classroom needs, and accompanies students requiring supervision outside the classroom.
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by teaching staff.
- Establishes supportive relationships with students while maintaining dialogue with teaching staff to convey progress and performance data.
- Operates and cares for equipment used with the instructional program.
- Assists in maintaining an appropriate classroom environment, including devising and implementing special strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
- Provides reasonable supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, instructional activities, and other school‑wide needs.
- Serves as primary source of information and assistance to substitute teachers in the absence of the Special Education teacher.
- Assists with collection and distribution of instructional material and with record‑keeping and student documentation.
- High School diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Basic curriculum expectations and IEP goals and objectives.
- Basic teaching strategies.
- Basic computer applications.
- Awareness of the needs of students with disabilities and use of alternative instructional strategies.
- Basic reading and computation skills.
- Work cooperatively in a team environment to meet goals.
- Organize and perform work independently.
- Meet deadlines for all work even when working on multiple projects.
- Show sustained effort and enthusiasm in the quality and quantity of work.
- Engage in ongoing professional development relevant to position.
- Respond promptly and thoroughly to written and oral requests for information.
- Maintain a clean, neat appearance and dress appropriate to position and duties.
- Maintain a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality.
- Serve as a role model for students, colleagues, and the general public.
- Work in close harmony with supervisor(s) and colleagues.
- Comply with all division policies and regulations, including confidentiality guidelines and professional conduct, as well as all site‑based procedures and protocols.
