Coordinator Of EsoL Welcome Center
The Welcome Center Coordinator ensures that multilingual families enter Stafford County Public Schools as informed, respected partners in their children's education. The Welcome Center Coordinator leads the division's multilingual enrollment and intake processes, ensuring that new English Learner (EL) students and their families experience a welcoming, efficient, and culturally responsive entry into Stafford County Public Schools. The Coordinator oversees assessments, placement, and records management;
develops and refines procedures; trains school-based staff; and facilitates smooth transitions for students and families. By fostering strong partnerships with schools and community agencies, the Coordinator ensures families have the information, tools, and support needed to navigate the school system confidently while upholding all state and federal EL requirements.
Operational Leadership & Service Management
- Administers and supervises all Welcome Center services, including staff oversight and assignments during peak periods.
- Develops goals for the Welcome Center in collaboration with the Director of Student Access & Opportunity and the Family Engagement Team
- Establishes and maintains efficient office systems, procedures, recordkeeping, and tracking workflows.
Assessment Administration & Compliance
- Oversees all English language assessments, including scheduling, administration, scoring, secure materials management, and data reporting.
- Communicates assessment outcomes to families and staff and ensures compliance with state and federal EL guidelines.
- Maintains assessment databases, records, and logs of family visits.
- Reviews EL Eligibility requests, assigns status, and submits updates for student information system entry.
Family Support & Community Connections
- Provides families with information regarding school services, and community supports.
- Maintains relationships with community agencies supporting immigrant and multilingual families.
- Prepares and distributes Welcome Center and community resources informational materials (pamphlets, brochures, resource guides).
Communication & School Collaboration
- Maintains clear communication with CO and schools regarding processes, updates, and service data.
- Develops and maintains communication systems that keep schools informed of Welcome Center activities.
- Collaborates with Family Engagement and ESOL staff to support family engagement initiatives and division wide EL programs.
- Collaborates with staff to obtain EL transfer records and respond to records requests.
- Collaborates with the Family Engagement team to support schools and families
Professional Learning, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluates Welcome Center services and implements improvements aligned with division needs.
- Designs and delivers staff and parent training on Welcome Center procedures.
- Participates in ongoing professional learning related to EL assessment, family engagement, and multilingual learner support.
- Assists in developing and administering the Welcome Center budget to ensure adequate staffing, materials, and assessment resources.
Education Attainment (Required):
High School Diploma
Education Attainment (Preferred):
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in education, social work, counseling, or related field
Relevant Experience (Required):
Minimum of three years working with culturally and economically diverse families (required). Three or more years administering WIDA assessments across proficiency levels (required). Experience working in educational or family-support environments (required).
Industry Licensure or Certifications (Required):
Native Spanish speaker or certificate of bilingualism in Spanish
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of international education systems or evaluating foreign transcripts
- Knowledge of local community resources and support agencies
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, communication platforms, and student information systems.
